Invaluable Primary Care Paramedic Skills
During the Primary Care Paramedic program, you will:
Assess the extent of injuries or medical illnesses of trauma victims, patients with respiratory disease and stress, overdose and poisoning victims, industrial accident victims, and other ill or injured individuals to determine emergency medical treatment
Administer pre-hospital emergency care to patients such as oxygen therapy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), spinal immobilization, bandaging, and splinting
Apply adjunctive equipment for ventilation and circulation complications, administer medications, and provide other advanced emergency treatment to patients
Transport patients to a hospital or other medical facilities for further medical care
Collaborate with ambulance dispatch centres, hospital staff, police, firefighters, and family members to ensure relevant information is collected and proper treatment is administered
Document and record the nature of injuries and illnesses and treatment provided
Maintain ambulances and emergency care equipment and supplies
Train and supervise other workers in this unit group

Get Certified And Become More Employable
The clinical component of our Primary Care Paramedic Program is regulated by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC). Our curriculum follows the guidelines of the Primary Care Paramedic’s scope of practice and prepares you to take the AEMCA examination offered by MOHLTC. Becoming certified shows that you meet the MOHLTC’s professional standards, which employers look for. Gaining this certification shows you are capable and competent, and it can open employment opportunities to you.
Train Using a Fully Equipped Ambulance

The fully outfitted ambulance will provide you with the chance to learn in facilities that are similar to what you will encounter when you enter the working work. Training with actual equipment means you will already have bridged any potential knowledge gap when you pursue work as a Paramedic. You’ll be familiar with the equipment and procedures, and that confidence will be apparent to your employer, coworkers, and patients.
Scholarships
Ian Campbell was a student in our Primary Care Paramedic Program who passed away in a tragic accident on March 20, 2006. The Ian Campbell Memorial Scholarship Award was created to remember Ian Campbell and honor a hard-working student who exhibits the same characteristics that Ian displayed.
