Message from the Program Coordinator

Program Coordinator

Cindy Rotman, BSc., DD

I’m excited to welcome you to the Denturism Program at Oxford College.
Denturism is one of the most unique and highly skilled healthcare professions in Canada. As a Denturist, you’ll be an independent professional, licensed and trained to provide removable denture prosthetic services directly to your patients.
You’ll give people the ability to smile, eat, and speak with confidence again.
Our faculty is dedicated to making sure every student graduates with the knowledge, clinical skills, and confidence to become a well-rounded, capable denturist. My involvement with College of Denturists of Ontario committees provides valuable insight into the profession’s standards and expectations, enabling me to lead educational initiatives that prepare students to become competent, ethical, and practice-ready denturists.
I encourage you to explore the program further and reach out to us with any questions. We’d love to help you take the next step.

Why Denturism

Denturism is a regulated, independent oral health profession. A large proportion of Denturists own and operate their own practice. They set their own hours, build their own client base, and determine their own income ceiling. For those who chose to work as a denturist starting salary is ~$40/hour. And the demand is growing.

Canada’s 65+ population is the fastest-growing demographic in the country. The Canadian Dental Care Plan, launched in 2024, extended dental coverage to millions of Canadians who previously had none.

More coverage means more patients. More patients mean more demand for denture services. But the supply side is thin. Only five career colleges in Canada offer a Denturism program, making it one of the more exclusive healthcare professions to enter. Consequently, the working-class industry remain relatively small and specialized compared with many other healthcare fields.

The question isn’t whether denturism is a good career. The question is whether you want to own one.

Most people in dental careers work for someone else throughout their careers. Most Denturists don’t.

Offered exclusively at the downtown Toronto Campus.
A Denturist is a licensed professional who can own their own practice. You can set your hours and your income, and most go on to run their own clinics, in a field where demand keeps outpacing supply.
As a Denturist, you would:

  • Assess a client’s mouth and take an impression of their teeth and gums
  • Design and construct complete, partial & implant-supported dentures
  • Insert & fit new dentures
  • Reline, rebase, and adjust dentures
  • Fabricate mouth guards and bleaching trays

THIS IS A FULL-TIME, HYBRID PROGRAM:
ONLINE THEORY + IN-PERSON LABORATORY AND CLINIC AT OUR DOWNTOWN TORONTO CAMPUS (920 YONGE ST.)

What Makes Our Program Different?

Our Denturism diploma is one of the few programs in Canada delivered in a hybrid format (online theory combined with in-person laboratory training). You complete the academic component and show up to the lab ready to work.

ONE OF THE FEW HYBRID DENTURISM PROGRAMS IN CANADA — Theory is taught online. Clinical and lab work is done in person at our fully equipped dental laboratory in Toronto.
2.5 YEARS, NOT 3 YEARS — A three-year program means three years of full-time tuition, living costs, and financial pressure. Oxford College’s 2.5-year program gets you to graduation six months sooner, which means six fewer months of student expenses, six fewer months of deferred income, and a shorter overall financial commitment before you’re a licensed, practicing Denturist.
COHORTS OF 15 STUDENTS — Most colleges run large cohorts. We run small cohorts of 15, that means more instructor time, more individual feedback at every stage of training.
DIGITAL DENTURES MODULE — Our curriculum includes CAD/CAM technology, 3D scanning, and digital printing for denture fabrication.
BUSINESS PLANNING BUILT IN — The curriculum includes BAPB 100: Preparing a Business Plan. You graduate knowing how to run a practice, not just how to make a denture.
FULLY EQUIPPED DENTAL LABORATORY — When you enter the profession, you will already be familiar with the tools, the workflow, and the standard.

Your Journey from Enrolment to Create Your Own Practice

SEMESTER BREAKDOWN

  1. Building Your FoundationsTerms 1–2You’ll start with anatomy, dental materials, infection control, histology, and pre-clinical prosthodontics. Lab skills begin from the first day on campus, so you’re working with your hands, not just your notes.
  2. Core Laboratory TrainingTerms 3–4At this stage, the hands-on work intensifies. You’ll start learning about complete dentures, removable partial dentures, oral pathology, and radiology, using laboratory equipment in our fully equipped dental laboratory. Treatment planning and patient management become part of your daily training.
  3. Advanced PracticeTerms 5–6By this stage, you’ll be working at the full scope of what a practicing denturist does. You will be introduced to Implant-retained overdentures, digital dentures using CAD/CAM technology and 3D scanning, advanced clinical prosthodontics, and complex patient care.
  4. Board Prep and BusinessFinal TermThe final term is where you continue to focus on patient centred care, while preparing for the College of Denturists of Ontario (CDO) provincial licensing exam, cover ethics and professional relations, and complete your business planning module. By the time you graduate, you’ll be eligible to write the College of Denturists of Ontario (CDO) exam, and you will have the skills to open a practice, not just lay the foundation.

Have Questions? We Have Answers

Why is the tuition $60,000?

~$60,000

Our tuition reflects what the program delivers, and we believe the evidence speaks for itself.
Oxford College publishes its board exam pass rates. In 2024 and 2025, our written pass rate was 82–100%. When you’re making a significant investment in a program that leads to a licensing exam, it’s important that you discover how the school’s graduates perform on that exam.
Aside from the results, you’ll train in a cohort of just 15 students, which means more instructor time, more lab access, and more individual feedback at every stage of your training.
You’ll complete a digital dentures module covering CAD/CAM technology and 3D printing. Also, business planning is included in the curriculum, so you graduate ready to run a practice, not just work in one.
Our tuition also covers outcomes that we stand by:

  • Board pass rates of 82–100% in 2024- 25
  • Cohorts of 15 students
  • A digital dentures module
  • A business planning program

We also offer financial aid:
OSAP: Ontario Student Assistance Program
Second Career: Up to $28,000 for eligible career changers
Flexible Payment Plans: Structured monthly payments during and after the program

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for the Denturism program, applicants must meet the following:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, OR Mature Student Status with Wonderlic SLE-19
  • Grade 12 English (C or U) or equivalent
  • Grade 11 Math (M or U), or Grade 11 Physics (U), or Grade 11 Chemistry (U), or equivalent
  • Grade 11 Biology (C or U) or equivalent
  • Oxford College English Assessment: minimum 6.0 verbal / 7.0 written
  • Completed Immunization Verification Report within 60 days of enrolment
  • Clear Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) report must be submitted within 60 days of enrolment

“Is 2.5 years of full-time study realistic for me?”

Our hybrid delivery model means theory is completed online, giving you flexibility with the academic component of the program.
Clinical and lab work is done in person at the Toronto campus; this cannot be done remotely, and the program cannot be completed part-time. The in-person laboratory component is where the skills are built. If you can commit to the schedule, the structure is designed to support you through it.

“What if I don’t pass the board exam?”

We understand your concern, and we think our track record speaks for itself. Our written board pass rate is 82-100% in 2025.
We have been able to achieve this with small cohorts, where every student gets individual attention and intensive hands-on lab training. No program can guarantee a pass. What we show you is consistent, documented results that are well above the national benchmark.

How much do denturists earn?

The starting salary for a denturist in Ontario is ~$40/hour, ~$83,200 annually at full-time hours. Because most denturists operate their own practices, income scales as you grow in the practice.

Is the program available online or part-time?

Oxford College’s Denturism program uses a hybrid delivery model, one of the few of its kind in Canada. Theory is completed online.

Clinical and laboratory training is done in person at the Toronto campus and cannot be completed remotely or part-time. The program is full-time for 2.5 years.

How much does the program cost, and is financial aid available?

Domestic tuition is approximately $60,000. The total investment, including kits, supplies, and exam fees is approximately $68,778 for domestic students.

Financial aid options include OSAP, Second Career funding of up to $28,000 for eligible career changers, and flexible monthly payment plans. Speak with an Admissions Advisor for a full breakdown of your options.

What makes Oxford College different from other colleges?

Three things: speed, outcomes, and model.

Oxford College’s program is 2.5 years, compared to 3 years at other colleges.

We publish our board exam pass rates (82–100% written, 2024–2025); other public colleges do not.

Someone in my family works in dentistry and suggested I look into denturism. Is this program right for me?

If you already have some exposure to the dental field, through a family member or otherwise, you likely understand the clinical environment.

What distinguishes denturism is its independence. Denturists don’t assist another professional. They see patients directly, make clinical decisions, fabricate the prostheses, and deliver them.

If you want a healthcare career where your outcome is the practice you build, denturism is worth considering.
