What inspired you to pursue Dental Hygiene?
I was inspired to pursue dental hygiene because I wanted a career where I could make a meaningful impact on people’s health and well-being. I am passionate about helping others improve their oral health through education and preventive care. I was also drawn to the opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients while combining my interest in science with hands-on clinical work. These aspects of the profession made dental hygiene a rewarding and fulfilling career choice for me.

What made you choose our program?
I chose Oxford College because of the strong recommendations I received from previous graduates who spoke highly of their experience and preparation for practice. I was also attracted to the accelerated program, which allowed me to achieve my career goals in a shorter timeframe. Additionally, Oxford’s reputation for having one of the highest pass rates on the NDHCE gave me confidence that I would receive a high-quality education and be well prepared for success in the profession.

What aspects of the program did you find most valuable?/ How did the program prepare you for clinical practice and your career?
The aspect of the program I found most valuable was the clinical experience. It provided an environment where I was able to challenge myself and develop my skills within a set timeframe, helping me build confidence and efficiency as a clinician. I also gained a strong understanding of patient-centered care, learning how to tailor treatment and education to each patient’s individual needs while delivering compassionate and effective care.

What was your most memorable experience during the program?
My most memorable experience in the program was successfully completing my DD4 client. Reaching this milestone gave me a strong sense of accomplishment and reflected the growth of my clinical skills and confidence throughout the program. It was a rewarding experience that made me feel prepared to transition into professional practice.

What advice would you give to future Dental Hygiene students?
My advice to future dental hygiene students would be to stay organized and manage your time effectively. It is important to be able to balance studying as well as clinic. The program can be demanding, but taking it step by step and staying disciplined makes a big difference. It is important to not get discouraged by instructor feedback and instead take it as an opportunity to improve.
